☆ It's full moon today! (I think... It seems like it, or nearly full) Time of SWR today was 8pm. Orion, Sirius, done that and that... what?! Then there it was... Al de Baran. Oh, it's a name of Alpha star in the constellation Taurus. Al de Baran was shining brightest today and it caught me by surprise because I first thought it was something else. (^^;) It really got me there. Sirius was not bright as Al de Baran because of the clouds. Magnitude of stars 3 and higher can be seen in the sky. Al de Baran is also known as the Bull's eye or "the follower star". Well, guess I will go outside and continue to enjoy myself looking at the stars. That was short but it's all for today.

☆ Big Snooze... yeah, another failure of waking myself up early to watch the original morning star... SWR today is going to be about the moon. Huh? The moon eh? okay, I ain't talking about the New Moon. these days, that moon is staying fairly bright up in the sky making my SWR condition terrible. But moon is still part of celestial beings. Our moon (I said our moon because moon refers to any satellite that have rotational relationship with any other stars.) is about 1/4 the size of earth's diamenter. Obvious ly we can only see one side of the moon but that doesn't mean it's 50%, it's a little bit more than 50%. Believe it are not, there is atmosphere in the moon, but it's so thin and dense... I really wanted to talk about something like UFO station in the moon or something like that... Anyway, dengit! The moon is so beautiful but it really is a bother when it comes to SWR... That's all for today.

☆April 25, 2010☆

☆ Weather... A bit cloudy, but it's better than yesterday. Stars with magnitude of 2.5 to 3 can be seen in the sky with a naked eye. Weather is hot therefore it has drawn more clouds up in the sky. There is not much consistant wind to carry over the clouds. Alot of clouds are blocking the view. I was instantly hit by the fact that today is the best day to test my astronomical figure skills. I tested myself and gave myself a score of 5 out of 10. Haha, That's pretty much same as fail if I were in the school. I was totally confused with the hemispheric linears and I couldn't guess where north side is because I could not spot out Polaris. I guess I still have long way to go. I was able to identify some minor stars in the sky. I realized I was dozing off consistantly due to exhaustion. It wasn't my day.
Not much interesting thing happned. Guess the stars are having the "just another day". That's all for SWR today. I am so going to bed... good night~

☆April 24, 2010☆

☆ It's just frightening! Someone shot at us! Me and group of my friends were inside the bus when a gun shot was fired aimed to the bus and the bullet hole in the window was less than 30cm close from my friend. I was beside them too! My eardrum still hurts! The air pressure system in the bus got ruined when sudden air rushed inside the bus when the gunshot was fired. Lucky nobody got hurt or even worse died... It's election day and alot of violent thing happens. The Irony is that the bus window which the gunshot was fired had one poster with some dude running for coming local election here in the Philippines. I hope no other innocent people die. Thank God that He is always there to protect His children from harm and dangers.

☆ I know I really need to do the SWR today because I missed one yesterday, but the cloud is covering the sky so thickly and the moon is up there. (Which is now half moon and it's brighter than ever) I could spot around 3 to 5 stars in random places but I have no idea what and which they are. Frustrating enough, my eardrum hurts a bit and I can't concentrate to look into the sky because I just had a big incident. Bear with me but that is all for SWR today. I still feel numbed...

☆April 23, 2010☆

☆ I went to bed early and I wasn't able to write anything for today... sorry ^^

☆April 22, 2010☆

☆ My best friend's blog talked about generalization and how it can sound offending. Another lesson learned. I feel lucky to have friends who share different things in life. It's much better than academic school lessons lol. I feel little sick but I think I can manage another SWR, I mean, what's so tiring about looking up in the sky? Oh, speaking of looking up, a lot of newbies would gaze at the stars while standing. Bad idea! Well, if you are gazing at the star for 5 minutes, it wouldn't hurt much. But imagine yourself standing like that for 30 minutes! So here is the solution... Get your reference, flashlight, and a mat. You can lie down in the mat and it can make star gazing much easier. (Just be sure that you don't lie down where cars run or in the middle of the road, you don't wanna look like a begger.) I mentioned flashlights. It helps you point out stars, you can say it works as a pointer in some sense. Any color would be fine but I recommend red. Red colored flashlights don't distract your eyesight, preventing you from seeing low magnitude stars. (Remember your eyes always adjusts to visible lights.) So where can you get a red flashlight? If you don't have one, try painting the glass side with a light red nail polish. Sounds kinda weird but it works.

☆ Oh yes, I was lazy yesterday. I don't deny it. But SWR continues today. Magnitude of 3 and higher could be seen with unaided eye. Sky is clear but moonlight is distrubing my sight a little. Therefore I chose a place where houses blocks out the moonlight from my sight, which also means, I am not going to be able to see any stars on "that" direction. It's 9:30pm. It's lucky that the sky is clearer than 2days ago. It's just my wish but I always wish something strange happen in the celestial sphere. But nothing is strange today. I saw one satellite body. You will come to a time when you see a tiny star moving relatively fast. (I am not talking about airplanes okay?) It's definitely not UFO (Unidentified Flying Object) It's just one of thousand satellite orbiting around the earth everyday. Many people often misjudge them as extraterrestrial objects. It's funny how poeple want to escape reality and enter into fantasy. hahaha. So yup! That's all for SWR today. Don't ever let satellites fool you!

☆April 21, 2010☆

☆ One of my dear, old friend asked me if I was using a telescope. I answered no. I wished I had one though. Way long time ago, I borrowed my neighbor's telescope. I remember focusing my telescope lenses toward Mars for the first time. It seemed so close that I felt like I could touch it in my hands. Even though it was Orion's belt that "coaxed" me into star-gazing, I would have to say that the beginning of star-gazing for me began when I was 7years old. Since youngster, I did some Tae Kwon Do. I was really good back in those days. (I'm not trying to be proud) I was young yet talented. I even had thoughts of being pro, which resulted me to go to several training camp. And in one of the training camp, I saw this beautiful, big meteorite falling from the sky. It was about size of a toy-gun pellets in my point of view. It wasn't a shooting star and I can bet on it. My trainer was also surprised to see this strange kind of phenomenon. The meteorite slowly melted away in the atmosphere. The interesting thing is, the color of it, it wasn't red-like at all. It looked more like green and yellow... believe it or not!

☆ errmm.... SWR? I'm lazy today... Let me sleep! No SWR today. Well I could start now but sleeping powders are hovering over my eyelids... Can't... stay... awake...!!!

☆April 20, 2010☆

☆ I just have to laugh at myself... I slept early so that I could try observing the "morning star", but I ultimately failed when I woke up 7:ooam... I guess it's destiny? SWR today is going to be in different time round though, because I started star gazing at 6pm. The sun was about to set and it was when the light and darkness clashed each other. The sky was half blue when I noticed Orion. It was a totally new experience for me because as I am always used to star gaze at night sky. Stars shining brightly over the blue sky was absolutely spectacular! though the sunlight blacked out low magnitude stars, the belt of Orion was clear enough. From there I spotted Sirius. (Another obviousness, it's the brightest star in the night sky.) The transition of daylight sky to night time sky was quick. I was never able to feel the light fading away. I will never fully understand how the heavenly body really works around here. SWR done!

☆April 19, 2010☆

☆ I was able to feel the summer heat once again. It rained a week ago and I told myself "Argh! I can't observe the stars if it rains! I hate rain!", but now I wish it rained. Even though the weather was hot, the stars still seemed to remain the same. SWR today is about the Great Diamond. It's neither a star or constellation. It's an asterism. I explained about asterism before so if you don't get it look for tag asterism or google it. ^^ The Great Diamond is shaped like diamond. (Well, the name couldn't be clear enough, I would say "duh?~") The Great Diamond is composed of 4 stars; Spica of Virgo; Arcturus of Bootes; Denebola of Leo; and Cor Caroli of Canes Venatici. Denebola is a star that is placed as the tail of a lion. Canes Venatici may sound unfamiliar. Translated, it means hunting dogs. The Great Diamond covers great deal of area in the sky and it is really easy to spot because the stars the make up the Great Diamond is very bright! Talking about diamonds, I wish I had one... T^T tough luck. That's all for SWR ^^

☆April 18, 2010☆

☆ Sunday... I didn't do anything... I had a day without disturbance. It was really peaceful. I'll go sleep ^^

☆ Nothing interesting happened. For SWR today, I knew I would have bad day for star gazing today because of clouds covering up the sky. Magnitude 2 or higher can be seen in the sky but if they were covered in clouds, no chance. Moon was smiling at me earlier evening. I learned about occultation today. It happens when eclipse happens with another celestial being. To make it easier to understand, it means moon hiding another star. It happens rarely though. Another thought of mine reminded me of the "morning star". I actually have no clue what it is. They say it is a bright star that disappears last when the sun rises up in dawn. Pretty much interesting, therefore I've decided to challege myself to look for that "morning star". That means I somehow have to wake up early... very early. I am really looking forward to it. >0< Good night!

☆April 17, 2010☆

☆ I had great Sabbath! God, prayer, church, people, and food... huh? food? Oh yes, I was invited for birthday party. I played "Ppong jjak" with my friends and had great time enjoying hitting Si Eun.

☆ Argh!!! The internet didn't work today so I had to do SWR offline for 3 days! Anyway, The observation still went on so no big deal. I just have to type them here from my papers... The sky is getting clearer as day goes on. By 9pm, I was looking at the same sky that I saw yesterday. Huh? same sky? I am just waiting for the seasons to change soon so that I can also have chance to observe and study the farther side of the celestial sphere. I saw 2 shooting stars and I was so amazed by it that I forgot to make wishes... I missed it two times. It was also the first time for me to see Magnitude 4 stars clearly since the day I started SWR. I was able to finally construct some of the constellations in the sky. Virgo covered the sky above me when night was getting deeper. It was around 10:30pm. That's all for my SWR today... I hope something interesting happens tomorrow...

☆April 16, 2010☆

☆ Friday is my favorite day of the week! I have no idea why though... It was pretty much boring today. I met this cute girl while walking on the street in Olivarez. She said hi in Korean so I replied back with a smile. I can really feel the KoReAn WaVe. I bought some Ghana chocolates for my Bible story-telling class. How many weeks has it been since we started this? 6 weeks already? I never thought it would last this long and yet our class still stands. I need more simple and interesting Bible stories. I'm going to Explain about Daniel chapter 4 tomorrow and I feel apprehensive.

☆ So, back to SWR today. I went out to observe the sky at 8:30pm. (Sorry God. I don't go to the Vesper's on Friday. But I was exploring your nature so I know you would understand...) Anyways, old couple in my neighbor hood has been curious about what I was doing sitting down, playing guitar, and looking up in the sky every night. I told them I was doing SWR. Then we ended up talking for 15 minutes about the stars in the sky. Apparently the only thing they knew was the Big Dipper and Polaris. They were lucky enough to see them today. Large band of cirrus clouds covered the north and east hemispheres. I was able to see the whole area of Virgo. But the magnitude of the stars were fairly around 3 and above. It could have been higher, but the lights around the place made me impossible to watch less luminous stars with my naked eyes. With Polaris out of the clouds I was able to spot 3 other stars of the Little Dipper. It wasn't the best night to gaze at stars but I was pretty much satisfied. That's all for SWR today.

☆April 15, 2010☆

☆ The weather is great. There are no clouds and moon. It's 8pm. Have you ever heard of a star name Sirius? It is the brightest star in the night sky. And Sirius is going to be my focal star for today. Sirius is in the constellation of Canis Major (Big Dog). There is a saying that goes "Dogs are man's best friend", right? Just beside Canis Major, you can find the Orion. Orion is a hunter, so probably Canis Major just has to be a hunter dog. Above my head was the Big Dipper. I have been waiting for the Big Dipper to be positioned just above my head so that I could spot out Poloris ("The"Northern Star). Finally, I was able to see Polaris today. So many beautful stars and constellations were out today. I just hoped that I could sketch them all in my blog... That's all for SWR. ^^;;

☆ My eye bags won't go away!!! T^T Peter's father coming home tonight. No more DOtA with Peter.

☆April 14, 2010☆

☆ Before I start my SWR, you should be familiar with some of "my" terms and definitions. They are general terms and I will use it to clarify my description of the celestial spheres. ▼

▶SWR- Star Watch Report.
▶Focal star- Any certain appointed star to guide constellations' positions.
▶Magnitude- Brightness of a star. Usually ranged from 1 to 6, 1 being the brightest.
▶Alpha Stars- The first officially designated star in a one constelltion. Usually the brightest.

☆ Good morning... (*Yawns) I stayed awake till 1am so that I could write my SWR. First night and it's already giving me a hard time. Alot of cirrus clouds covered the sky today. I could not see any stars lower than magnitude of 4. The first star that came to my sight was Arcturus from the constellation of Bootes. (Herdsman) Therefore Arcturus (magnitude -0.04) became my focalstar for today. It is the fourth brightest star from the Earth. Clouds covered weak part of the constellation but Arcturus itself was amazing enough. It was just amazing... My waiting was surely worthy enough.

☆ It rained again today. I just love rainy weather, but for star gazing, it's one of the worst enemy ever.. It's now around 7:30pm and my eyes could only collect few stars. The cloud condition is so bad that at first I couldn't identify the stars. Magnitude of 1 or above could be seen in the sky. I was really hoping to see Polaris today. I've tried to look for it this morning but Polaris was way down the Southern Hemisphere. If it was an open field, I could have found it. But unluckily my view has been covered by house roofs around my place. I'm so fatigued and out of stamina. Two cups of coffee helped me last night to stay awake, but the after-effect is unbearable. I don't think I could possibly wait for the sky to be cleared today. My head keeps bumping on my keyboard and I'm not sure if I'm typing right. I'll have to check and edit tomorrow. My grammar at the lowest level right now. I got to sleep. That's all for SWR today. Good night ^^

☆April 13, 2010☆

☆ I always thought I would never need a blog page... I guess I was definitely wrong. Even though I made this blog page to test out "Google Adsense", I realized it would be a waste if I just let my blog be stagnant. So I have decided to write something everytday.

☆ It was ridiculously hot today. I had to take a shower 3 times in 1 hour interval. Why 3 times? When I came out of the shower for the 2nd time. Then suddenly, strong rain started pouring down outside. I dashed outside that very moment and ran in the rain around my apartment for 10 minutes. It felt so good! But the feeling of regret came to me when I realized that I had to take shower again. By the end of my day, I would have taken a bath 4 times.

☆ Shae sent me a message with ironical news. I hope she can still do it.

☆ SWR stands for Star-watch report. I wanted to start SWR from today but guess I should wait till twilight.

☆Ordinary and not quite yet☆

1. By the way, I would first have to mention that I try very hard to become perfectionist. Yup, and it was just another fine, ordinary day for me... except when it began raining. I smiled to myself. Despite the fact that it was blazing hot few hours ago, I have brought my umbrella. I stood there admiring my professionalism. (Oh yes... you just got to be professional to be prompt! >0<) I opened my umbrella and headed off home with my head and chin high as other people who didn't have umbrellas looked at me with envy. But as I went on, suddenly I felt betrayed... betrayed by my own umbrella when my hair got stuck in the umbrella bars and pulled my hair right out of my scalp.

2. I am usually busy, or I really try to be. One day, I really had nothing to do at the end of the day. 8pm... it was too early for me to sleep. I started enjoying this free time, oh joy! I sat down in the living room sofa and started watching one of my DVDs. As I was falling deeper toward the TV screen, I felt something. It iches my left forearm. Argh! Mosquito bite! My focus was all transferred from the screen to the mosquito bite. Then, as if it was my instinct, I engraved my bite spot with my nails in the shape of a cross. +

3. I really have to say, I hate school! (Do you agree with me?) Another day with myself hurrying to eat breakfast and go to school, I looked at my wall clock briefly... seven-something. My school starts at 8:00. I knew I still had time. I slowed myself down. I began eating slowly. When I was done eating, I rechecked my homeworks and packed my things. I promised myself that this time, I won't forget to bring my lunch box. I still kept myself busy. I looked at my wall clock again... still seven-something. I was overwhelmed! I never had this much free time in the morning before! Then I saw the TV screen turned on to BBC. (Beep!.. Beep!.. Beep!..) I knew something was wrong, definitely wrong as it counted down 10 seconds for the 8 o'clock morning news.

4. These days, people are so busy with their stuffs. No smiles, no laughs, and no greetings... I was one of them. I seriously regret that and I've been trying so hard to greet anyone I know whenever I could see them. At first I felt awkward but as time went on it wasn't too bad. That hearty feeling you get when you are greeted back can also make you happy. But the awkwardness came back to me when someone greeted me first and I greeted him back. Again, the feeling came back to me... the feeling I get when I make mistakes... "shame". I turned back and there was another guy greeting the person.
